Central Texas has its own unique environment. With hot dry summers, freezing temperatures in winter and flash flood rainstorms. We are creating a space that works with these natural cycles and includes habitat for wildlife and the polinators that our gardens depend on. We also avoid pesticides in our landscape and garden areas..
PRIMITIVE SKILLS
Sharing knowledge that our ancestors depended on for daily survival. In the future we will host workshops on wild edibles, fire starting, primitive pottery, making natural rope and others.
ECO ARCHITECTURE
We are exploring sustainable construction techniques for our small off-grid cabins. We have finished out a solar powered Container Workshop and we just broke ground on a "Aircrete" cabin.

A BIT ABOUT US
Founded by brothers in 2015 to honor of our mother Cynthia Wadsworth Cook who's love of plants and animals inspired us to start Camp Scissortail Eco Retreat. This is a place for our family and friends to gather as well as a place to learn homesteading skills, green building, and Permaculture principles.
Located in the historic small town of Hubbard Texas. Founded in 1895, Hubbard became famous for its natural mineral water springs and health resorts.

We love sharing our experiences. This is a part time project as we all have other jobs and obligations so the website and outreach are works in progress. We hope to have tours and workshops in the future so stay tuned, hope you will join us on this adventure.
